The Verbal Options Simulator (VOS) Controls
The Command Buttons enable the learner to explore information in their own learning style and at their own pace. Buttons are placed at the lower corners of the screen making them convenient for navigating on a tablet or other mobile device. If you are using a computer, a mouse can be used to click on the buttons as well.
The Next Button advances you along through the Module on a standard path. For example, it would take you from the Briefing to the very first Challenge in the conversation during the Practice session. It then moves you sequentially from step to step in the Practice session. When on the last step of the last challenge in the Practice session, the Next button will move you to the scored evaluation.
The Previous Button is used to go back to a previous page or to the previous stage in training. The Previous Button button is not available on the Start Page (there is nothing to go back to), nor during the Evaluation section which has to be completed straight through in one pass.
When you want to jump to a very different section of the module other than the next or previous sections, use the Menu Button. This will display an outline of the entire module on the left side of the screen. Simply click on your desired destination, and you will jump right to it. Clicking the Menu Button again will hide the module outline displayed at left.
The Next Challenge Button advances you to the next segment of the conversation. The Next Challenge Button appears during the Practice session (if included in the module).
The Previous Challenge Button is used to go back to the previous segment of the conversation. The Previous Challenge Button appears during the Practice session (if included in the module).

The Insights Button gives background information that explains the thinking behind each segment of the conversation. Insights may include extra background information, considerations about this stage of the conversation, Social or Emotional Intelligence tips, suggestions for Body Language, or other items that can help the learner to respond appropriately to the situation. Insights will be displayed by default at the beginning of each conversation segment.
The Key Elements Button will display the items that must be included in the response given by the learner. A response cannot be considered complete and correct if it does not touch on all of the Key Elements.
The Record Button takes you to the Practice part of the conversation where you can practice giving your response. While doing so, you can view and optionally and self-record video (or audio only) of your response if you like. Recordings can be compared to the required Key Elements, or played alongside the Role Model video to illustrate differences in content or delivery.
The Script Button will display a written script of this stage of the conversation in the Text Pane. This is useful for learners who prefer to dig into details by reading, or to provide explicit clarity of language that might not be understood during the Challenge Video or Role Model Video.
This Help Button provides additional details and instructions. On the very first page of the Module, it will display general instructions with a video that gives a brief explanation of the VOS Console. During the Practice Session, it will display brief descriptions of all the Command Buttons that appear on the VOS Console.

To see an appropriate example of a response, click on the Role Model Video Button to display the Role Model in the Video Pane at left.
The Scoring Button is used during the Evaluation Section to transition from the Video Recording Process to the actual Scoring Process.
